Exams for UKBA

We offer University of Cambridge ESOL Skills for Life exams to meet the Home Office requirements for Spouse visa (A1 exam) or Student visa (Tier 4) as well as applications under the Points based system (B1, B2, C1). These are held every 6-8 weeks. Please note that the awarding body requires 5 weeks’ notice of your intention to sit this exam and there is a small charge. Please contact us for further details.

ESOL with Citizenship

This course is suitable for everyone whose English is below entry three and meets the requirements for those wishing to apply for indefinite leave to remain on the basis of marriage or citizenship. Those whose English is above entry three should instead take the Life in the UK test: see www.lifeintheuktest.gov.uk for further details. The ESOL with Citizenship course involves an assessment, followed by 30 hours of classroom tuition and successful completion of an ESOL Speaking and Listening exam. The course lasts for 3 weeks and we offer both a weekday and a weekend option. We offer this course in Bristol and Derby partnership with Wiltshire College. There is a charge for this course. ESOL with Living in Bristol

These courses are offered in Bristol funded by Bristol City Council Learning Communities team. The courses are aimed at pre-entry and entry one learners and concentrate on speaking and listening skills. Courses are free to all Bristol residents eligible for Skills Funding Agency funding and take place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for 5 weeks. ESOL with Being Part of a Community and Getting Ready for Work

These courses are offered in Bristol funded by Bristol City Council Learning Communities team. The focus is on applying reading and writing in practical situations. Courses are free to all Bristol residents eligible for Skills Funding Agency funding and take place for 5 hours on Thursdays for 6 weeks. Please contact the centre for further information.

IELTS Preparation

This course takes place on Friday mornings for 10 weeks (subject to their being a minimum class size). It prepares candidates for the Reading and Writing papers of the IELTS exam and gives opportunities to practice past papers. There is a charge for this course.
